CENTRAL FLORIDA’S BEST FISHING REPORT

mahi mahi offshore port canaveral

Nice to get back offshore yesterday with Captain Joey aboard the Sea Trident leading the charge with a very solid day of mahi fishing. Looks like we have until Thursday this week before the wind starts to huff again.

In this week’s forecast, we got another great “father-son” fishing writeup from Knox Robinson; plus, it’s your last chance to sign up for a chance to win a Daiwa BG Spinning Combo courtesy of Strike-Zone — the winner will be drawn and announced next week!

Father – Son Kayak Fishing: Long Point
September 30, 2024

I hope all is well as we march on through the year; this week will usher in the month of October, the days are getting shorter, and the weather is gradually cooling off. This is the period of the year where fishing can get exciting, and is also a great time for family fishing outings; so today my report is going to be about a father, son kayak fishing trip.

Lots of Bait, Few Predators @ Inlet
September 30, 2024

Good morning all my Sebastian Inlet peeps! I hope you all had a great weekend despite all the rain and thunderstorms we had with hurricane Helene, and everyone is well! This report is one of those I don’t like doing, but I call it as I see it.

Best Time of Year for Inshore Slams
September 30, 2024

Had a great week of inshore fishing, despite the winds that we had during the week. Plenty of snook and trout with a few redfish in the mix. Live bait has been best, but we got plenty of fish on DOA paddle tails, jerk baits and several fish on top water, specifically the Rapala Skitterwalk.

After Storm Fishing
September 30, 2024

Beach fishing this past week, after the storm passed through, wasn’t too shabby for many. There was lots of action along the beachline with pompano, whiting, redfish and black drum.

Wow! It’s amazing how the lagoon waters can change in the blink of an eye. Last week we were reporting clean water in the Indian and Banana Rivers.

Hoping for More Mullet Pushes
September 23, 2024

With the full moon, not many mullet around and the north winds, I expected a slow week but it wasn’t slow at all. Inshore, the snook bite was on fire as were the trout, jacks and there were a few redfish too.

Mahi & Sharks
September 23, 2024

Mahi and sharks are the theme of the week. Actually we had more mahi than kings this week. The water out to 220′ has been an odd color of black. It’s actually black mixed with some brown in it, almost like Okeechobee Cyprus black.

East Lake Toho and Fish Lake
September 21, 2024

Got out twice last week, Friday morning on East Lake Toho and Saturday morning on Fish Lake. Friday, Lakefront Park was closed so I went over to Chisholm Park and started fishing at the end of the canal to the right along the reeds and pepper grass, picked up 2 small ones before getting down past the grass and moved to the canal leading to AJ Lake.

Challenging Bite with Full Moon
September 17, 2024

The bite has been a little challenging this past week with the full moon phase. Between the influx of rain over the past couple of weeks and the stronger tide swings from the full moon we have had a lot of water throughout the New Smyrna Beach backwaters and Mosquito Lagoon.
